Somebody reassure me I'm doing the right thing having Gigi spayed. I took her in this morning and the poor girl was so upset when I left her and I'm worried sick because we've lost two dogs having them sterilized, one boy and one girl. This is a good vet, as opposed to the one responsible for the other dogs' deaths, but I'm still worried sick and feel like a horrible mommy for having left her there. You can't explain what's going on and she obviously just thought I was abandoning her. :'(
She will be fine. Do you pick her up today? Be ready to pamper her when she gets home. How awful losing two dogs like that. Glad you have another vet for Gigi. She was probably so upset because she picked up on your anxiety about leaving her. You will be relieved when she comes home. Prayers for Gigi to recover soon.
Your doing the right thing. I am sure once she sees you again she will forget she was even left there. You can spoil her even more to make up for it.
You are doing the right thing. I know how fearful you must be, but everything will be ok. This is really the best thing for Gigi.
Spoil her rotten when you bring her home and have some good cuddling time.
We will be thinking about you.
Fingers crossed here for speedy recovery for Gigi! She'll be just fine!

Thanks, everybody. I can't pick her up until tomorrow morning -- they routinely keep them overnight, they said -- and then I'll have to go almost right to work, but I'm hoping she'll feel lazy and be willing to lie around and sleep all day until I can get home and pamper her tomorrow night. They told me I could call after 3 today and it would be over by then and they could reassure me that she's okay.
I know just how you feel, leaving there all nervous but she will be fine. Bear was spayed last week (Wednesday) and I did pick her up on the same day. She was pretty distant and sore, 3 days after the operation she already had energy to fetch (which I'm letting her do).
I wasnt comfortably leaving her alone after the surgery...but if there is no other choice, leave lots of water. Bear was extremely thirsty.
Keep us posted. Best of wishes
