My neighbors have a JRT they got as a rescue. He’s hyper like you’d expect a JRT to be but he has a really sweet disposition. They named him Sparticus..lol. Anyway, I have known them for about a year and today when I was outside with Tal, Sparticus came out to play! They had been around eachother before but we never let them interact really. Well, I would give anything if I had that on video. It was so funny and they both had a ball. Sparticus dad said everytime Sparticus sees Tal out he goes nutso and wants to come out and play. It was a really nice time.
That's great for Tal. Bet he was nice & tired afterwards, too
Until Tal has had all his vacinations I would avoid any interaction with other dogs.* If the other dog is a recent rescue from a shelter who knows what he has been exposed to or is carrying.* wait until Tal's immune system is better developed.
They have had the JRT for almost 3 years and he has had all his shots. If I weren't sure I would never have allowed it.Originally Posted by Lab Dad
In your own back yard with a known healthy dog - I think the benefit of the socialization far outweighs the risk... IMHO!
Glad Tal and Sparticus (love the name!) enjoyed themselves! Take pics next time!!!!

That's great for Tal!!! (Glad you were cautious about the other pup!!!).
Keep giving him great experiences with other dogs and he'll be very social!

Yeah that's what I thought too. I have known these folks and their little JRT for a long time now and know he's healthy. Sparticus dad was too funny 'cause Tal was doin quite well and said that give him another month or so and he'll get the better of Spatricus! lol He said Sparticus goes nuts when he sees Tal cause he wants to play with him!Originally Posted by MyLabsMom
CoCo's mom..I agree..love that name. woulda been like me naming Tal something like Tiny..lol
There's nothing better or cuter than a lab puppy with a friend. They have a great time, get more tired than any human could every make them and they sooooo forward to seeing their friend again.
I hope this was the first of many exciting playdates for the two of them.
And definitely take pics next time.
I'm gonna try and remember my camera when I take him outside...he is growin up so fast....wow
I used to love when our Wheaten would wear Emma out, when she was a pup. She slept so soundly after one their play sessions.
Looking forward to seeing some pics next time. I bet he is getting bigger already! They do grow up way too fast.
