Nemo's cruciate ligament implant did indeed fail. He has drawer sign once again, which is why his limping was more pronounced. I ruled out a TPLO at this point, but we either do 6 more months of steady exercise, trying to build muscle and scar tissue up to stabilize the joint, or we go through the whole surgical process again and put in new implants. Arghhh....Not a happy day.
I'm so sorry! He sure is beautiful - I love the 2nd one, it looks like you just told him.

I'm sorry. That is too bad. Nemo sure is a handsome guy.
I'm so sorry to hear that Poor Nemo & poor you guys...we are 10 weeks into our recovery and are keeping our fingers & toes crossed that Fergus will come through his okay. I hope whatever you decide to do will be successful this time around and that Nemo will be off and running really soon. Keep us updated!
I am sorry. Nemo is very handsome.
I'm so sorry to hear this. Poor Nemo.
I did see in your other post that you're now in Branford. I know a great ortho in Stratford, if you're in need of a second opinion.
He does all L4R's ortho work, and has a big soft spot for any L4R dog.
Please keep us posted -
(HUGS) to you and Nemo

I'm curious as to what these implants were?
They tied Magnum's joint up with "fishing line". A small hole was drilled through the bones to thread the line. The line was tied off and crimped with surgical steel crimps. There was nothing implanted in her... it was all pretty mechanical (recreating a ligament). I imagine the line could possibly break, but I think there would have to be a pretty drastic injury to do that. The surgeon told me that in actuality her joint is now stronger than it was before.
I hope Nemo can be fixed up. I would opt to have the surgery redone, and I'd redo it ASAP. I wouldn't want scar tissues to build up in the joint.
I'm sorry to hear this.
I'm so sorry to hear about the failed implant. I am sure you'll do what's best for Nemo. Poor boy, sending prayers for him.
The vet used the word "implant". Basically, the fishing line pulled out of the steel crimp. ;-(Originally Posted by raian
