This morning I brought* my mom to the vet to have* my childhood dog put to sleep. Shaman would have been 14 at the end of October. He was a wonderful companion to me during high school and a great last "child" to my parents when I went off to college. Shaman was there for my mom when my dad passed away in 99.* He had a very peaceful passing and is now running free.
Here are some photos of him.

Edited to add that he was such a stoic guy right up until the end. He had been experiencing severe HD for a year and on all sorts of meds. This morning he was so uncomfortable and began to vomit blood. I am so glad I was able to be there petting and kissing him goodbye* :'(
