I put Tals collar on him today and he didn't seem to mind except he scratched like a madman. I think he is just not used to the collar yet (well first time!) since he rarely scratches. Did yours do that the first time you put their collars on?
Second, I will leave in a bit to to workout and Tal is in his crate with his collar on. I put the leash up. Should I take the collar off or is it ok to leave it on while he is in his crate?
Brigetta will sometimes scratch when she has her collar on. He's probably just getting used to having something around his neck. I would take the collar off while Tal is in the crate. I used to leave Brigetta's on, but I've read a lot on the forum where it can be dangerous, so I always take hers off now.

We usually remove CJ's collar (jewelry) in the house - call it his stealth mode. He goes and gets his jewelry when he wants to go out. Gets his leash when he wants a walk or ride in the car.

Thanks..I'll take it off when I leave here shortly...I kinda thought so but I don;t wanna risk the little guy gettin hurt.
Molly scratched at her collar non-stop the first few times she wore it (I don't remember Abby but I'm sure she did). Now collars are no big deal around here, in fact they get pretty upset when we take them off lol.
We always take Molly's collar off while she is crated, don't want to risk her getting caught while nobody is home.

It is normal to scratch the collar when you put it on for the first few times. until they get used to it. It's the same for a human, think wearing a watch when you aren't used to it.
As for taking the collar off in the crate.....please do!!! Accidents happen and happen quickly. Better to be safe than sorry!
As already said, scratching at the collar is totally normal. I would probably react in the same way to having something put around my neck for the first time.*
No collar in the crate. It could get hung up on something.
Thanks for the help! I waited until I heard on here and take his collar off every time he is crated. Once he comes out of the crate I am watching him so I leave his collar on. Definitely don't want him to get hurt...I think if anything happened..well not gonna go there.
No "shoes" on in the house.
