    DefaultDuke's Dock Dog Training

This weekend I started launching Duke off the ramp at the dog park to practice for the Dog Dog competition on the 25th.
In this photo you can see the ramp. The lady with the red top is standing on top of the ramp. The end of the ramp is 2' over the pond level so it's the same as the Dock Dog dock.

I got Duke to jump with a good running start and I estimate he did exceed 15' maybe even 18'. We have two more weekends to practice.
I may even drive up to the Houston Area Dock Dog facility to train. A lady there spent $15,000 to construct a sanctioned dock dog facility.

Cool!! That's awesome that you have access to a "dock" like that!

Baloo will be starting this soon, hope to hit the dock dog events this summer!

Woohooo! Abbey won't jump off of anything into the water at all.. she needs to walk into it, so I don't think she'll ever do dock dogs.. not at least until she learns to love the water.

..although there was the one time she jumped off the dock into 2 feet of mud....

John, how wide is the pond exactly? I think of it was pretty narrow there in the center. Duke must have jumped almost clear across it!

We can't get either of ours to jump in with a running start. Swim, yes. Jump, no. Oh well.

The pond is 40' across in the middle. The outdoor scale makes it seem less. If Duke could jump all the way across it would be a world record.
