Ender has me worried... if he wasn't acting like his normal self I'd be through the roof with worry but now I'm just like... "hurry up and give me a sign!" Yes... his poop would be a sign right now. Let's review...
Tuesday... diarhea IN the crate
Tuesday evening-Wednesday-Thursday- Friday am- Liquid poop
Friday evening-a semi-solid poop but very small. (fasted Friday morning)
Saturday morning-2 pure mucus (sorry this is so gross)... like egg yolk.
Vet prescribed Metronidazole after ALL tests on the fecal came back negative (even Giardia and yes they did the special accurrate giardia test). Ender's been getting the meds since his Saturday evening meal. Ender has also been getting rice and chicken since Friday evening... no kibble yet. Vet says as long as he's eating and drinking normally... and isn't dehydrated... she can wait to see him on Monday if there is no improvement.
NO BMs since the mucousy stuff! *sigh* I wish he'd hurry up and go so I could see if there was an improvement. He's worrying me... so much so that I had a dream about him getting hit by a car and breaking his leg.
Hope he's on the mend now Lyndsay. Not sure what that med is, but when Taffy had a continuing bout of the runs - and all tests came back negative - she was given meds (will have to look name up) for a stomach/intestinal irritation - possibly stress induced/sensitive stomach developing - and the meds broke the cycle and she has been fine since. And no sensitive stomach issues developed. She went back to all her old eating habits no problem.
Isn't it amazing we actually want them to poop But like you, I'd be worried if one of my girls had the problems that poor Ender has had. Here's hoping that he will gift you with a nice healthy poop....today. Keep us posted. (non-dog people would think we were nuts)
Been there, done that. Metronidazole has always worked for us ... hopefully that will get Ender back on track. I know how frustrating it is. I never knew I could have such a keen interest in poop : until I got Sami.
