I don't it was enought to harm him. He ate a 9oz package but he is 100lbs. Any ideas what I should do?
OH and please don't yell at me that I wasn't watching him. I was not home and somehow he got into the pantry and snagged them off the top shelf!!

Call the vet. Do not induce vomiting on your own.

    oh moby!

call your vet to be sure.*

what kind of chocolate was it?* semisweet?* milk?

i believe the toxicity of chocolate to dogs is related to the dog's weight and the amt of theobromine in the type of chocolate.
here are a few sites that explain further with examples of toxic levels:

    http://www.dogownersdigest.com/news/...oisoning.shtml
    http://www.talktothevet.com/ARTICLES...olatetoxic.HTM

my golden snagged a 1lb milk chocolate heart off the counter a few years ago and i was scared to death!* luckily, it didnt affect her too badly except for a bit of diarreah.*

    hope he's ok!

Tucker ate a dozen chocolate chip cookies a couple of years ago. I called the emergency vet and although he was only about 55 pounds at the time, they said it wouldn't harm him except maybe the poops. He was fine.

My cocker spaniel ate a HUGE heart of chocolate lat year and I too called the vet in a panic. They told me to take her outside, and use a turkey baster with peroxide to induce vomiting. It worked and she was fine. It was messy but fine. Good luck.

Glad that the prognosis is good!

I wonder how many "my dog ate chocolate" calls they get a day?

Dani why wouldn't you try and make him throw it up? From everything I've read unless the dog has swallowed something sharp you want them to give it up.
