Thank you for asking. My stomach hurts just thinking about it. We have been bringing her to the vet twice a day for three days now to nebulizer her for an hour each time. Basically we hold a mask on her face and she breaths in the medicated vapor. She had x-rays again today and they showed just a very small improvement from last x-ray on Friday. I cry just thinking about it, and am trying so hard not to obsessively follow her around with my ear to her chest all day listening to her wheeze.

I am so very scared that she will not recover. She is four years old and my very precious puppy. I am in a nightmare that I can't seem to wake up from.

How sad. I hope she shows signs of improvement. If you don't mind me asking--how did she get pneumonia, was she sick? or did she have any signs? Just know that we are here if you need to talk! I have been thinking about her and will continue to.

I'm sorry she's has not made much improvement. Are they doing anything else besides the nebulizer? If they are providing antibiotics, maybe its time to talk to the vet and have them change to a stronger antibiotic.
Aly is in my thoughts and prayers

    Get well soon girl.

Jenn, is it bacterial or viral? If it's viral she may just have to wait it out, I don't know. If it's bacterial they should be giving her the strongest antibiotic she can tolerate. Is there a veterinary hospital you can bring her to?

I'm so sorry she's having such a hard time.

Thank you all for the supportive words.

How did she get pneumonia? Welll....short answer, we don't know. Long answer...
We were sent to go out of town to Maine. Literally the half hour before we pulled out of the driveway to bring J&A to boarding, Aly made a strange little cough/wheeze/sneeze. We are used to her being kinds drippy and sneezy b/c of her allergies, which are really bad this time of year. We ran her to the vet to have a once-over, however, to make sure she was okay to board. The vet said her chest sounded clear and that he thought it was allergy-related. He wrote us a script for a mild cough suppressant to take along with her benadryl.

Fast forward two days, and we get a call from the boarding facility telling us that Aly isn't eating or playing and she thinks Aly has more than "allergies" this time. She takes Aly to the vet, and they do chest x-rays and dx pneumonia. Aly is really, really sick. We had to wait until the next morning to leave, b/c we were babysitting my niece and my sister was in the middle of giving birth. We left the next morning to come home. Aly was in the hospital four days before they let us take her home, with the understanding that she would have to go back 2 X a day for nebulization. I am horribly guilty that we left her. It was inexcusable.

Aly is going to Sylvania Veterinary Hospital. SO, I guess, yes, we are taking her to the hospital.

As for meds; Aly is on baytril (antibiotic) Robitussin (expectorant) plus four meds in her nebulizer. I don't remember off the top of my head what those meds are.

The dr. said she doesn't know if it is bacterial or viral.

    I feel so horrible.
