You can never stop it but brushing frequently will cut down on it. The Zoom Groom is a good tool but since Molly is shedding alot this summer I have been using a shedding blade. It really pulls the dead hair off.

Just keep brushing! Try to vacuum your dog, It works!

Welcome to the world of labs. Emilu just "blew" her nice, heavy double coat. She is almost bald in spots! I have found that just raking my hands through them from tip to tail several times (outside) takes care of a lot of it. Repeat several times a day for a couple of weeks ;D

ROFL! Sorry I just laugh everytime someone talks about a labby shedding.

I don't think much can be done about it. Unless she is just blowing her coat...the only other thing that help a teeny bit is a good diet. It does help reduce it some what

Here's a piece of advise I haven't tried yet but I'll pass it along. Recently I had to bring Cinder to a vet while we were out of town. Cinder was shedding like crazy because it was 110 out and she was nervous. He told me to give her a spoon of mazola oil in her food everytime I feed her. He said it has to be mazola for some reason but it really does work. If it makes their stool too soft he said to give it every other feeding. I'm going to try this as soon as she finishes her antibiotics. It's worth a try!

    labs shed?? :P
    *giggle*

    I hardly notice it anymore
its just part of our routine to rake up the hair in the house

almost daily I rub my fingers thru shayna when we're out in the backyard
it seems to work best for me - by getting out all the loose hair

luckily shadow has part springer spaniel in her
and her hair is springer -- so we can shave her
when she's cut really short I hardly find black hair around the house

The fun part about the mazola, is that they really aren't constipated anymore. Seriously #@*! just shoots right out!

I know how you feel.....FYI the "de-shedding" grooming process at Petco does nothing but make your dogs coat shiny and Jake smelled like coconuts
