Before I started cooking breakfast this morning, I put Bear in his cage for fear he would try to stove surf and get the cooking bacon. I could see that he wasnt very happy about this but went in anyways. Well Christopher had been playing with his set of walkie talkies all morning. Next thing I know all is quiet in the house. No beeping of the toys or crying from the cage. All I could hear was the sizzling of the bacon and some whisper coming from the kitchen. I quietly got up from the chair to see what was going on and of course to flip the bacon. What I saw brought a tear to my eye. Christopher was laying on the floor at the front of Bears cage, Bear was laying in the cage right next to the door. Both faces were inches apart with only the wire separating them. As I stood there, Christopher was telling Bear that he was sorry he had to be put in his cage and he wished he could let him out but didnt want him to get hurt. He then told him that he was his very best friend in the world and couldnt wait until they could go outside and play. Bear just laid there like he understood every word that Christopher was saying. As I stood there listening to my son tell my pup how much he loved him, a tear feel down my cheek. I think time stood still. Christopher then saw me and told me that the bacon was burning.
Some bonds will never be broken.
Oh, that is such a sweet story. You brought tears to my eyes! What a bond they must have...worth all the burnt bacon in the world.
Oh Rachel...That's such a beautiful story!
You got me teary eyed right along with you.
A tender moment. Really sweet. Ummmm...........now I want some bacon! Darn!
Your story brought a tear to my eye. Your son is lucky to grow up with a lab. They will be best buddies. Kids & labs are a wonderful combination.
Two innocent creatures sharing an unconditional love...
Thanks for sharing, it also brought a tear to my eyes.
How sweet Rachel! Christopher is so lucky to have Bear, and Bear so lucky to have Christopher. They are indeed best friends.
