I am looking for feedback on what others are paying for someone to "pet-sit" for your loved one, while you are away on vacation...being one night, or a few overnights.
Here is my situation, if it might help you help me figure out how to compensate!
I live in Connecticut. My option is to have either a college student or a single girlfriend...both, love dogs and enjoys being with mine. Currently the college student helps me sometimes durning the day while I'm at work, by taking my 7 month old "Izzy" for an hour of play / potty / water. I normally pay her $10 per hour. I am expecting the person to sleep at the house, and would need to take her for a 30 minute walk in the evening. I will provide food & drink, and alow for them to have a friend or two at the house, and use of our pool.
A friend of mine dog sits pretty often for various people, some regular clients. She said she gets anywhere from $30-$50 a day and she will basically live at the house while they are gone. Hope this helps. I think if you are providing food and trip $30 a day would be fair.
I charge $15 per visit or $35 a day for home boarding/house sitting per dog - $5 for an extra dog (per visit) - $45/day for two or more dogs. I bring my own food, and don't allow anyone else in the house for liability reasons.
How well do you know this college student? Do you REALLY want to give her carte blanche to bring friends over? Although she may be trustworthy, are her friends as responsible as she is?
