Max is now taking 100 mg daily for 10 days, then we will lower the dosage. He has HD and was in pain and had swelling of his hips during longer walks.
Of course I know there are risks involved with any medications and I will watch him for any adverse side effects. Has anyone else had any experience with this drug?

I do give Mercedez Deramax for her hip. She had Total Hip Replacement and after the surgery we were sent home with a whole bottle for days when she seems to be in pain. Have not had any issues with the drug. I actually find it a life saver on her bad days. She was on Rymadil but the vet didn't want her on that too long because of the damage it could do to her kidneys. The Deramax works immediately as opposed to the Rymadil that takes a few days to start working. I do only give it to her when she seems to be in pain!
Paddy gets Deramaxx on an as needed basis for his arthritis. It does work quickly to relieve the discomfort. I only use it when his pain seems severe.

Thanks Laura and Nance.* Like everyone else, I love my dogs and need to feel confident that I'm not causing more damage then there already is.* He is not a candidate for hip replacement or surgery at this time, we are trying to oil and loosen him up a bit so that he can build up the area and hopefully enjoy life w/o surgery.
I just had Brodie on it for two weeks. He had a Lymes flare up and they gave him Deramaxx for pain. It worked well for him.
Zoe has had Deramaxx after her root canal, and after her interdigital cyst removal...oh, and after her spay. She did fine; showed no side effects that I could tell.

Chelsea took Deramaxx for a year or two. Poor girl had every bad thing imaginable aching on her. She did fine with it.
Magnum and Ruger have both taken Deramaxx after injuries/surgery.
Buddy had it too. Whether or not it helped was hard to say. I was told he could take 50mg. a day of a human pill called Tramadiol that seemed to help him. It just so happened I had a huge bottle of it for myself that I almost threw away because it conflicted with something else I need to take. Saved me a bundle of money!!
I'm so glad to hear positive responses to this medication and I'm praying for positive results for Max. He seems a little stiff this morning, moreso then he was last night on our walk. He also seems to prefer UNairconditioned spaces whereas the labs will lie right in front of the a/c! I wonder if the warmth helps him feel better.
