I probably would have just stared at her like the idiot she was.

Well I don't think people generally mean anything negative when they make comments. I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. I think they really just don't know what they are looking at or much about Labs. I've been asked numerous times what my Lab is crossed with due to her smaller size. I used to go into the whole explanation of how she was not small for a Lab (she weights around 60 pounds) and that's within the standard and explained the variations between Labs...blah blah blah. Now I just say that she's a purebred and on the smaller side. I know these people didn't mean to be insulting....just making conversation I think.
People don't know much about dog breeds that's for sure...

I've had to explain the whole "field line" thing to a few people...my own parents thought Billie looked different than most Labs they'd seen because they were used to the hunting type Lab (forgive me if my terminology is wrong). They thought at first she wasn't purebred. I showed them a few pictures of other purebreds that look just like her.
It's weird how people just have ideas in their heads about dogs...and wasn't it Twain who said something about it being better to be suspected of being an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt? I've met WAY more pomeranians that were less friendly than most rotties...it's just the rotties that get more bad press!!
Sounds pretty dumb to me. If she only knew your a breeder.
Rotties can be wonderful dogs. I've known 2 that were sweethearts and one weighed 150 pounds.
You need to get Clint a T-shirt that says "I'm NOT a rottweiler, I'm a lab!" :
