Duke has finally broken the 80# slump. Last October when we took Duke in for his 2 year checkup....he weighed 89 1/2 #'s. The Vet said...we HAD to get some weight off. Exercise him more...feed him less....cut out the treats. Duke LOVES to eat : . I was already only giving him 2 cups of kibble a day...or course add to that the lamb roll, the canned, or course a nice fattening biscuit after dinner, plus the cookie biscuits during the day. (bad Mommy ). So here's what I did...
Cut back on the amount of lamb roll and canned. No more fancy biscuits. Added more green beans and other frozen veggies at night. He hates ice cubes, BUT loves them when I put a green bean, or carrot or piece of kibble in it. Those where his free snacks. OH and his favorite bone....Broccoli Stem.
We've kept up the walks daily...power walk with Mommy on Saturday and Sunday mornings, plus the weekend trips to the park. I work during the week, but he gets major play time and an evening walk when I get home. My retired hubby walks him during the day.
Well as of his monthly weigh in yesterday, he is down to 78 1/2 pounds.* I am so happy.* Now If I could just get the pounds off me. :
Here's a couple of pictures of him doing his favorite activity in the back yard....chasing lizards.

Duke looks great, we had to put our female Ellie on a diet with lots of excersize, she topped out at 90 pounds, way to heavy, if I knew how to post pics I would post some of our 3 kids, one of these days.........
