Hi all! Duke has managed (AGAIN!) to lose his ID tag in the backyard somewhere. We attach them with the ring of of a keychain, but evidently that wasn't 'good enough'.
Any ideas? I've seen the cool quick link things, but I'm leaving him with Dad for the weekend, and I know he'll spend a good part of it in the yard, so I need something to attach the tags with so that I can rest easy in the highly unlikely case that he gets out. And yes, he needs microchipped.
hardware store... look for the quick links there or the snap hooks.
yes, at a hardware store you can get all sorts of fastners.

Throw the ball, damn it!
You can get links at a hardware store. Examples at this site:
if you get a quick-link, be sure to tighten it with pliers - i only finger-tightened jackson's and it came unscrewed after some rough-housing with bear. i frantically searched the yard for his tag and finally found it. since then, i screwed it closed with some pliers and haven't had any issues since (for either of them) so, just be careful that it is screwed super tight!! otherwise if you just need a quick solution, use an s hook - i've RARELY ever seen/heard of a dog pulling this apart (if you get the strong ones).
Home Depot carries a line of dog stuff like tie down stakes and i get my id holders there also they are where they make the key's at.
Just use a key ring to attach it. It should work if you use a small one. They're more durable than the hooks you get anyway.
I got something very similar to the quick link thing at Walmart and one also at Lowe's (it was shinier). Try there.
Thanks guys. We had a death in the family yesterday so I didn't get a chance to come back and read your posts. . . so I improvised.
I got the smallest keyrings I could but I felt like they dangled too much, so I got tiny zip-ties (we also call them cable ties) and used the itty bitty connector ring first, then used the cable tie too. So far so good.
