Well my 2 yr old Woody is so sore. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with him but the vet called and said that he strained his tail where it was almost broke 4 inches from the base it is so swelled up my poor baby. I tried to post the pic but it wont work.
I dont know how it happened but he woke up Sunday morning fretting and wouldn't lay down and sleep like he usually does then I had my daughter take him to the vet and he called with- in a few minutes telling me that my woody wouldn't have Happy Butt ( a really wiggle butt ) for about 2 or 3 weeks and he really can't put anything on it with out causing him more pain my poor baby i feel so sorry for him.
I just can't figure out how he did it??
Sounds like "cold tail" has he been swimming or hunting for a long day recently. Hopefully it gets better soon.
we where at the lake sunday for about 6 hours and he was swimming alot. I have never heard of cold tail. please tell me more. I know he is in pain. I fell so sorry for my woody. :'(
Yup, sounds like cold tail! Sorry, I can't post a link but I'm sure someone will for you.

It does sound like cold tail.* It is a condition where their tail is very sore and they won't wag it, they pretty much just hang their tail straight down.* It will gradually get better day by day, and should be better in about a week.

Maggie had cold tail a little over a month ago I think. I just noticed yesterday that her tail is MUCH better. She was in pain for a good 4-6 days, and had a hard time sitting down for a good 2 weeks.
I hope he feels better soon!
Yep, cold tail. And, surprisingly a LOT of vets are clueless about it. Magnum has had it twice. She's pathetic when she has it. I give her aspirin for about three days and by then she's waggin' it again. I hope it clears up quickly for you.
well I printed out the info on cold tail and faxed it to my vet.
then I got a nasty phone call from him saying if I didn't like his oponion why did I bring my dog in especially if I wasn't going to listen to him.
I was so Stunned and so speechless I really didn't know what to say to him. oh but I plan on calling him back today and giving him a piece of my mind. but would it be really worth it??? I think not.
but oh grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I am so mad at him right now I can hardley see straight. >
Get another vet. That's BS.
new vet time!!!!...as an educator I subscribe to the notion that you should never stop learning shame on your vet for forgetting that!
