    DefaultDock Dogs

Saturday, there was a dock dog competition about 25 miles from our place.* Husband and I got to watch for about 45 minutes.* *There were no bleachers, so we had to stand and it would have been better to be higher.* *I doubt if any records were set, but it was fun to watch.* *

Mostly Labs, some Goldens, a GSP.* *And I believe these must have been a mix -- Looked a lot like yellow Labs, but much thinner, more like a Visla waistline. Not much coat for a Lab either.* *Actually, ribs were clearly visible.* I personally thought they looked mal-nourished.* *These dogs and several others had done this before, but a few were clearly just people giving it a try.

Fun to watch.* *Some of the dogs were so excited and some were so intense.

No, I am in Northern Illinois - center of the state. Competition was in Rockford, IL

I briefly looked at www.dockdogs.com for more info, but did not find any info on the Saturday event.

I went to a Dock Dogs competition back in March. It was a lot of fun to watch! I wish I would have known that people were giving it a try for the first time. I would have brought Roxy. They had sessions before hand where owners could take a couple of tries to get their dog to jump into the pool and get advice from the more experienced runners.

Dock Dogs is a blast. Murray loves it. Running, jumping, swimming, fetching...it just doesn't get any better in his book. Murray has a couple of legs but the titles are specific to handler/dog teams, not just the dog. My SU put the legs on this title so he has to finish them. We are going to Wags for Wishes in a couple of weeks and they'll have Dock Dogs there too. I may put Murray in a couple of times just to cool him off.

    Dani --
Let us know how you do in Grand Rapids.* *Pictures would be good, so take someone with a camera.* * Hope they can get an elevated viewing spot.

This just looks like a fun time for all.

To rottnlabs -- great picture of Murray.

I need another Lab, to teach Reba to like the water. She will play in our tiny creek, but I don't think she would do any diving.
