I took Henery swimming this morning at our quarry, yay! He even tolerated me hosing him off afterwards (usually I just pour buckets of warm water over him, but with his itching lately, I thought maybe I wasn't getting all the lake water and itchies out). YAY! It took a fistful of treats, but it got done.*
But the biggest yay was just now. Since his harness was still soaking (I wash it after each swim), I thought I would just walk him around our block on his flat collar.
He walked like a dream!! It only took a few reminders at the beginning and he walked in perfect heel for most of the walk. Whenever he went off to 'niff, he'd come back into heel. I'm a proud momma!! This is a boy who has a history of pulling like a fiend... I've used the GL, and now the Sense-ation harness.
Bear in mind however, there were no distractions... no kitties, no little kids to visit, or other dogs.*
But it's a start!!* ;D
Good boy Henry

Give that dog a bone!
they suprise you, don't they, when you are least expecting it. I took Lucy out on the leather lead I used to use in training class the other day cause I couldn't find my usual lead. Lucy immediately was in the heal position and looking at me for direction...we walked all the way doen the street like that...I was amazed...she remembered the leash as meaning business...
The lightbulb went on! Good for Henry!

Oh, that is a big YAY! I haven't been brave enough to walk Angus on anything but the prong. But you know, it might be time to wean.
Mom comes over and walks him sometimes when Kevin can't make it home for lunch. Sweet Mom. But she is afraid of the prong collar, so she walks him with Simon's choke collar. She swears he doesn't misbehave. Of course, I know my mom, and if she had a leash around my neck I'd behave too
