I had not planned on getting a dog at the time, and certainly didn't go about getting her in the "correct" way, but I love her none the less.
I was at work 3 summers ago and my daughter called and said Auntie (my sister) was at our house with 3 black lab puppies. They were from a BYB who was a military wife. There was an emergency and she had to fly overseas to her husband immediately, and there were 3 left of the 11 in the litter. 2 girls and 1 boy. I really wanted the boy, buy my sister already chose him. I decided to get the laziest, most mellow girl, thinking she would stay that way. Boy was I wrong!!! Sammy was exactly what I needed in that time of my life. I had just separated from my then-husband who had cheated on me and was in a deep depression. I was so in love with this sweet little black ball of fur. I do believe she helped me out of the despair that I was in. She has always been such a sweet girl. She was like a mother to my 14 old deaf and blind mini daschund. She is like a momma now to the Pupster (even though he is bigger than she) She was very protective of me and the kids, but never to the extent of being agressive or the least bit mean. She alerted me when my house was broken in to. She is food and ball obsessed, and her favorite thing to do is swim in a pool-even in the middle of winter!
Happy Birthday Sammy, my sweet, sweet girl!!!
