    DefaultCosequin vs. other brand???

I know Cosequin is excellent for joint discomfort, but it is costly. I saw this product at petmeds.com, half the cost, looks similar enough. Opinions please??

Cosequin is the gold standard of glucosomines. None can match it.

Our ortho vet said that Cosequin is really a gold standard. B/c supplements are not regulated by USDA, he did not feel that other brands of G/C supplements were as good. Also, I've been told by some members here that Cosequin is the best. I was also recommended Cosamine DS.

I buy Cosamine DS from Costco. It's a human grade supplement that I was told is as good as Cosequin DS. It costs around $65 per bottle. There was also a link in "Health" section to an eBay seller of Cosequin DS that was very reasonable. I'll try to find it.

I could not find the link. I think it was lost with the previous forum. I hope that whoever posted it then will see and post it in this thread.

Cosamine isn't as good as Cosequin. It IS Cosequin only packaged for human consumption.

The latest issue of Consumer Reports noted the lack of regulation of nutriceuticals and tested a variety of G&C products to see which lived up to the potency of their listed ingredients.

They rated COSTCO's "Kirkland" (house, signature brand) as best.

I recently switched my dogs to two different types of glucosamine. One has Chondroitin the other MSM and Hydrolic Acid. I give one AM and one PM. It is the Schiff brand at Costco.

With two dogs on Glucosamine, and a new dog on the way, I simply cannot afford the $65.00 a bottle any longer.

I am also feeding them Flaxseed Oil.

Randi, I use the one Bob Pr. pointed out. I get it at Costco, 170 pills for around $21.00.

I also use the Kirkland GC and was glad to see the Consumer Reports rated it as the best.
