Hi, I have a 6 month old lab called Milo, 6 weeks ago he started limping in his front legs after having him x rayed my vet has concerns it may be elbow dysplasia. One elbow seems worse with swelling and his feet seem to be slightly turned outwards and his gait stilted. We are repeating the x rays in 2 weeks and plan to forward them to an ortho spec for review. I live in an isolated area and specialist facilities are not available however I will do what I can to give Milo the best chance. My own experienced vet has operated on dogs with ED using an open surgical approach, has other forum members had success with open surgery versus arthroscopic surgery. When is the best age to have the surgery done? are there no specialist anywhere within an range you can go? I wouldn't necessarily trust a regular vet for this kind of stuff.
I'd find an orthopedic specialist and make the drive.
