... and the crisis which was so brilliantly handled by Laura, I took extra time with Seamus today.
Yeah... he's a boy and almost 11 years, and yeah... I've never had the mommy lab/baby lab experience in my home, and yeah.... it's nothing like what those two grand ladies have gone through...
But because of that experience I thought I owed Seamus a little extra time and attention today.
And so, I took him to the shady, far side of the RHG tonight for retrieves. I sat on the funny little "throne" Jose carved out from the remainder of the pine tree he felled for me last year.
And Seamus was pleased! At his age, he really likes that arrangement.
I thought of Quinn and Laura and all her other labs she is still tending to and thought, "I am blessed to have one remaining Labrador Retriever in my life. Do it right, Nance... do it as Laura would do it."

Awwww, that is so sweet! It is nice to spend special time with each of our dogs, that is why mine get individual walks and runs in the field. They both enjoy their alone time and Maxx wants to go even if it is pouring rain! (Emma will pass, thank you very much!) It does me as much good as it does them.
Watching Quinn and Laura together yesterday made my heart smile!

Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go - but learning to start over.
That is so sweet! I have to say, with everything Laura has been through the last few days, she still has managed to give helpful advice on the forum to people. The advice she has given to me, a lab dummy, is so much appreciated. Thanks Laura! Now get some rest!

Laura is an inspiration! She's great and seems so calm, even at times I know she must be nervous as %%%%! New puppy life, illness, problems, the one bad week when I think like 3 JL labs passed.....these are things that trigger our "Mommy/Daddy brains" and make us just want to hug our own lab babies. Thank you Paddysmom for this thread. You are also an inspiration to me. Along with many others. There are a number of people on this thread who are thoughtful, kind, supportive, quick with good advice. All of you have made me feel at home on this forum and have helped me with so much. Sorry about the "off topic" just wanted to say...
What a wonderful post, Nancy.
Spending time with your Lab is always good for the soul.

Abbey and Coco got extra Mommy time too. Thanks for the sweet post Nance. I think Laura's situation made lots of us stop and count our blessings.
Love JL. Justlabradors.com!!!
Well said, Nance! The past few days of watching Laura and Quinn and that bond they have....Sometimes Jazzy has been beside me on the sofa while I'm watching. I look at her gray face and I can hardly express how much I love my girl! We've been taking some extra little strolls lately without a beagle( they have to stop and smell everything!). Jazzy loves those times, and so do I
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am
