    DefaultFurminator

I am thinking about getting a Furminator for my Australian Shepherd, Linus. He is shedding twice as bad as ever this year. Is it worth the money? He is going to the kennel in a couple of weeks and they do grooming, should I have them brush him. Would appreciate some opinions.

    Thanks.

Yes, IMHO, the Furminator is worth the money. Don't furminate inside, as you will fill up your home with dead undercoat.

I decided to get the zoom groom instead of the Furminator.

The furminator damages coat. It is a clipper blade mounted on a handle, so it cuts hair. Yes, it does get rid of a lot of hair, but cuts a lot of hair also. I agree with the Zoom Groom, you get just as much hair, maybe with a little more arm strength on your part. The benefit to the ZG, is that it also massages with all those rubber fingers.

I'm with Belle's Mom. I'd follow up with a comb, tho, especially on a coated breed like an Aussie.

I don't know anything about the furminator, but the zoom groom works great. Once my dogs stopped trying to grab it (they thought it was a toy), they each lined up to get their full body massage.

I should also add that it gets a ton of hair out.

I gave away my Furminator as it was destroying my dogs coats. A zoom groom or a regular brush is fine for an Aussie.

The zoom groom is a lot cheaper, too.

Glad I read this thread - we were going to buy a Furminator - now I will change my mind and take a look into the Zoom Groom for Ryder.
