    DefaultDixie starts therapy tonight!

Therapy Dog Class, that is. I'm excited about this. She needs a lot of practice, not being excited greeting people though. That is part of why I'm doing it, just to keep practicing her manners. And I can't wait to take her to the local nursing homes.

The bummer part is that this is the last class she can take in this area. Her trainer doesn't offer anything else after this. The nearest clubs are an hour to two hours away, for rally or agility.

Wait. Dix starts therapy training tonight but it's the only class? As in, she only gets one training session? Or do you mean there are several sessions but nothing beyond this level of training.

Anyway, I hope you both enjoy it. I'll look for your report!

Nothing beyond this level, Nance. There are seven classes, starting tonight, and two field trips. We've done the AKC Star Puppy, Basic Obedience, and CGC. This therapy dog class is as far as she goes. She will be certified, if she passes, which I'm sure she will.

But I would really like to have her go on to something else.

I wonder if there's a way to get a club started closer to home?

Maxx and I loved this class, so much fun! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Our next class, which starts in mid September, is tracking, I am really excited about this class!

How did she like the class?
I bet she will be a great nursing home dog.

She did really well, of course she was tired from playing with all her friends for an hour before class started!

We went over a lot of paperwork and did some refresher stuff from puppy class. Made sure they would sit, stay, down, walk on a loose leash, and walk around other dogs and people while keeping their attention on their owners. Stuff like that. I was proud of her for being able to walk about like that without trying to stop and play with everybody. That's what she usually does. lol.

I'm glad it was a good first session. I'm proud of her for being so easy to handle!
