I'll start off by letting you know this has happened twice.
Ivy makes a mess around her water bowl and all the flooring in the house besides the bedrooms is travertine tile, which gets very slippery when wet. I came around the corner from the kitchen, foot slipped and thankfully I grabbed the closet door on my way down to slow the obvious. Once I've made impact on the ground I laugh a little, groan and lean against the wall. Ivy watched the whole show from the couch but got down, walked over to me and licked my face. Once I patted her and got up she went back to her spot on the couch.
When I go down, they all come over to lick my face. I have slippery laminate floors. It's easy to slip on nylabones too.
They like to look innocent. When Jack jumped on me last Oct. and I fell and broke my hip....he was all kisses Be careful of those slippery floors ladies! If you fall wrong, bones will snap. Just saying....
Mine get all licky when I'm down on their level, too. Doesn't matter how I got there, as long as I'm there.
Get yourself a rubber-backed bath rug to put under the water bowl. You'll be amazed at how much water it will capture instead of the tile floor. I think labs must be notorious for drinking and walking away from the water bowl with a full mouth... wide open. All three of mine do (did) this.
Seamus and Flynn
Siren likes to pick up his bowl with his mouth and play with it whether water is still in there or not. Makes a racket with them pushing and clanging all over the floor.
Geez, when I fall down my girls just stop and look at me like "Mom, what the Christ are you doing?"
I get no sympathy from them.
Yes labs and waterbowls - notoriuos for the mess.
Take Nance's advise - I did and the falls stopped.
Sophie loves to dig her water bowl. She will dig the water out and floods the kitchen. She even taught my sister's pit to dig his bowl. My sister called to tell me to be sure to thank Sophie for corrupting Vera!
