    DefaultNew to this : )

    Hello everyone,

I am new to this, and I am not sure if I am writing this in the right category but hopefully someone can give me some advice. : )
My little Mabel is a 10 month old chocolate lab. I am just wondering if anyone knows why her fur is lightening up so much?
She has a complete blonde spot on her tail, and I see more blonde coming up her back.
Has this happened to anyone else?

    Thanks in advance,

    Alison : )

This time of year they have shed their winter coat. I have noticed white on Sophie's tail when her coat thins. Also, if she's in the sun alot, it can lighten the hair. Once her coat thickens for winter, I don't see the white on her tail anymore.

The undercoat, when they shed, is often a lighter color. Brush her well - and daily! I get a ton of hair every day off my boys.

Bauer has a ring around his tail. I posted about it when he was about a year old (he is 5 1/2 now). Sounds like it might be the same thing . . .

It has become much less noticeable with age. It is still there, but I would have to go look for it to see it now. It was most pronounced when he was about 10 - 18 months or so.

Ditto on the tail ring. My chocolate has one too - they are very common.

Is she spending a lot of time in the sun? They can get bleached out.
