Well, looks like we will not be getting a puppy from this breeding after all. The Dam did not get pregnant. I know this happens sometimes; but I have to say I am pretty sad. I am keeping my fingers crossed for her next breeding, which should be in about 4 months or so. I was assured that we will get the perfect puppy for my family. I am glad that I did not start buying anything yet. MAN.....I am bummed.
I've been there. When I put a deposit down on a puppy, and then found out it didn't happen, I was bummed as well. I ended up choosing to wait for a pup from a later litter, with the same father. I ended up with just what I was looking for when I got Diesel.
My Lab is smarter than your honor student.
Deacon 12/1/1999-4/2/2012 RIP, bestest boy.
Diesel 3/29/2010 My little hard charger.
Sorry to hear The same exact thing happened to me when we were puppy searching. I ended up finding a new breeder, because the particular breeder only bred once per year.. and ended up with a much better fit for me! Everything happens for a reason, and it will be worth the wait!
of course you could rescue
I could Rescue , but we will wait. In the big scheme of things what is another 4 months + or so.
As I see it...it is that much less poop, pee and hair to clean up too!!! LOL!!! We are a patient bunch down here, so a few more months will not kill us.
It all works out and worth the wait. I had been waiting for my MIL to move back home after her house had been re-built. The day she told me they had the occupancy permit approved I went on-line to check the breeder I had been interested in. Turns out they had sold all the pups in the litter and not sure when another would be coming, but lo and behold another breeder nearby had just had a litter that very day. And now I have my Siren.
Plus what you said is very true:
