What does your breeder or vet recommend?

Of those two, choose the Royal Canin. You don't need the Labrador food. Use the Maxi Puppy instead.

Is there a reason for not using the Labrador food?

I feed Diamond Naturals to my Boxer. Will start puppy on that then go from there. For what you will pay for Iams and RC, you can find much better options! Good luck

The "Labrador food" is just a gimmick.

Personal choice for everyone, but I would never feed Diamond anything to my dog after the atrocious recall history.

OP, if you got your dog from a breeder, you should consult food choices with them. I wouldn't bother asking a Vet what to feed given their limited knowledge on foods other than what they push in their offices.

What are you currently feeding, and why are you changing? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yes, always feed what your breeder had the puppy on and they recommend, at least for the first couple of months unless they specify that you need to stay on that food.

You do not need to feed a premium food; feed what works best for your dog. The breeder should know what works for their dogs.

Vets get kickbacks for what they sell so that is what they will recommend. They do not study nutrition and do not know what foods are really good for dogs.
