I was hoping it wasn't. My vet is going to discuss it with the Ortho vet on Tuesday to see what is the best way to handle it.
Surgery is out. Crate rest is going to be difficult as we need to keep him moving to keep the muscles around his hips good,so we are not sure what to do. We are going to try him on new NSAIDs and see if his gut will tolerate it.
Oh FGS Chris! Can't you get a break for 5 minutes?
Poor Ernie. Good luck figuring out what will work best for him.
Prayers Chris! And DAMN IT! Wish you could get a break too!
I am so sorry Chris. Garth is so right, you just can't get a break and neither can Erns or Tessa. I hope the vets can come up with a plan for Erns that works. Sending good thoughts and prayers for all of you.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go - but learning to start over.
I don't mind a challenge, but sheesh these 2 are pushing it. lol. We have got over humps before so sure we can this time. The timing is rotten as his joints have been exactly where we want them coming into winter. This will set t him back, but we will do it.
I just hope his gut behaves and doesn't react to the Metacam.
I am so sad for you Chris. Those two dogs just seem to be magnets for trauma of one kind or another. I know you have been through this before. Best wishes for you and the animals.
