    DefaultJack Grooming...

Has anyone else tried using a curry comb on their dog? The kind they make for horses. I have a 70ish neighbor who's on like his 4th lab in his lifetime and when we mentioned Jack isn't crazy about brushing, he brought out the curry comb. I won't say Jack loved it, but I will say he sat for quite a while (way longer then with his "dog" brush) and let us brush him with it. He actually laid down for a while and let us do his tummy even! It took out so much of the loose hair and even the sticky things from the trees in the yard that are dropping right now that I've been pulling out. So just a thought for anyone who may have a "Don't come at me with that brush" dog like Jack.

I have a zoom groom that is similar to a curry comb, but rubber. Willy loves it. After I'm done brushing him, I toss it for him to play with.

I don't recommend it. The curry comb breaks the dog hairs and the teeth on the combs can are SHARP! They can seriously nick your dog's skin, not to mention your own if you mishandle it.

Thank you for that info...I didn't think the teeth seemed that sharp, but it was an old one. Maybe the rubber zoom groom that joflake mentioned will be a better choice. Certainly don't want to hurt my boy....

Zoom Groom here, too. Java is not a fan of brushing but she does like the Zoom Groom and I get a ton of hair out of her.

The Zoom Groom is awesome! First use it against the hair growth for a few strokes to build up static, then go with the coat. You will be amazed at the hair that will literally fly off Jack. I use it outside.

We use the Zoom Groom here too. Kaity LOVES being brushed with it. Even Dio will tolerate it, as long as he gets a long butt massage with it.
