Oh no! Thank goodness Jayson is neutered and you are letting Laika go though a few heats to not spay her before necessary. Hopefully things settle down soon!

i know im probably gonna get crap for this but im not quite sure i wanna get her spayed. it seems way to invasive and with jayson when he got neutered he was in so much pain. my vet doesnt like prescribing pain pills for those types of surgeries.

As long as you, and others in control of your female pup have the ABSOLUTE ability to control and keep your female supervised and under direct control for the 4 weeks from the very 1st sign of a heat cycle, that is your decision. If there is any possibility of her getting loose you have the obligation to remedy this by spaying her after this, and preferably her next, heat cycle end. Only you can cotrol this situation.

I sure hope some intact males don't come calling. There are benefits to spaying at the proper age. Maxx was neutered a few weeks ago and other than some whining the first night, which was likely from the anesthesia, you never would have known! He was a bit quiet and a little slower the first few days but he is such a mellow boy anyway. He still wanted his daily fetch games and walks and he got a bit antsy before his 10 days were up but he did very well. When Emma was spayed the vet had me bring her in the night before to apply a pain patch and she was sent home with additional pain meds. Maybe you could find a vet that would agree with pain meds. For a female I would insist on having something available, if needed.

Awwww, poor guy! Maybe the pain meds did really help. I am ashamed to say that I can not remember further back than my last 3 dogs but I am almost certain my males were never sent home with pain meds before Maxx. Unfortunately my previous vet I had, when I lived in MD, retired years ago and moved to VA. He was an awesome vet.

Any chance of finding a new vet? When we had Harley spayed, I don't remember any pain meds - might have been, but she wasn't in pain beyond the 1st night...it was a real fight to keep her calm til healed!
