Hello friends, this is kartik here. iam from india and 18 years old.good to see a dedicated lab forum. well iam looking to buy a lab and i have whole bunch of questions lined up.please help to solve my quiries.
1) My both parents employed but still there is only 3 hours of gap-(9am- 12 am) that when nobody is there in my house.so is that okay for a dog to be kept inside or outside the house for that long- 3 hours?
2) what should i buy - male or female? i ve genreally heard that females are kinda gentler and smoother of the two? but i dont know of the other sex.
3) is it really okay to buy a pup when iam 17? considering it will be me who will train it?
4) what about the vaccination? does anybody know how much will that cost me ?
Hoping that this is an honest inquiry from India!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be sure that this pup is at least 6-8 weeks old before you get it (prefrably 8 weeks old).
Three hours alone should be o.k.
If you are a responsible 17 year old, then the pup will be in good hands (there are some young people on this board...Dierdra comes to mind).
Male or female does not matter.
Vaccinations, I can not answer from the US.

Thank u members for ur kind replies! iam really confused with so many articles to watch on! Can u suggest me some good articles?
PLEASE don't make the mistake that is so common amongst the members from India on here & bring the pup home at 4 weeks old. NO pup no matter what the breed should leave its mother & littermates until 7-8 weeks (8 is better). This is to ensure the pup gets all its nourishment from its mother while still developing & helps socialize it amongst other dogs in this case, its littermates.
Assuming you are getting a dog from a decent breeder, they should give you the appropriate feeding instructions when you bring him/her home. Can't advise on the vaccination regime because it depends on what diseases you guys vaccinate against & how often. The first thing you need to do is find a good vet that can advise you & care for this dog throughout its life which on average is usually 12-15 years. Sometimes older if you're lucky. Good luck.
