    DefaultJack has gone lame

Approaching 16 years old Jack has had a few set backs over the years. His rear leg muscles atrophied, he has some arthritis, and has started having trouble using his rear legs. Over the weekend Jack started having trouble moving his front legs. It has gotten progressively worse and this afternoon took him to the vet. At the vet it seemed his left front leg was rigid. The vet suspects either he fell and sprained the shoulder or maybe there is a growth pressing on the nerves that control the muscles in the leg. His wrist and elbow hardly bend. In addition to Deramaxx he is on a muscle relaxant. After dinner it looked like he was having the same trouble in his right front leg. He gets his next pill in the morning. He does not whine, moan or cry. The good signs are he still wants to go for rides and to the bark park, is hungry and interested in food. He still fetched a can of green beans from the pantry for his dinner, came looking for me for his after dinner med cracker, and insisted on carrying his toy from the car to the house. If this does not resolve in a couple of days he will be referred to a specialist.

No change in the leg yet this morning. He can't walk without my holding on the harness handle, and I have most of his weight. Hopefully the muscle relaxant will kick in and release his muscles.

I'm sorry Andy. So hard to watch a beloved old dog struggle with infirmity. Good thoughts for your both that Jack has a better day today.
