We're calling him (or her?) his Fence Friend - because its our neighbors dog and they have made friends through the fence bordering our yards. Its this little white and brown dog...some sort of parsons terrier mix I think. I think our neighbors have had it since last fall. We're not friendly with them. 3 teens of various ages - single mom who is never around. Anyway...the dogs have apparently met before I noticed this last week.
I'm home for lunch and the little dog is released into his yard. Remy charges the fence line...which is obscured by forsythia bushes. I cringe waiting for the barking...and....nothing. The little dog and Remy nose sniff each other through the fence (its a wire fence) and Remy's tail is wagging so hard I think its going to fall off. Remy starts whining and hopping from foot to foot cuz they can't get to each other. The other dog is doing a little dance for Remy. And then...Remy lays down with his nose to the fence tail wagging. Oh my little heart!
This happened again last night when my husband was home and we watched the whole thing play out again. Remy made a friend all on his own!
I think I may have to see if we can have a play date if I ever catch one of the kids out and about.

~It doesn't matter how smart the dog is,it matters how smart the owner is.
