Just wondering what everyone thinks of the Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach food, we were at a feed store getting straw for our dogs run and the man
recommended this food, said he's been getting some great feedback on it. It's only rated as a 3 star through the dog advisor board online. Just wondering
how people find this when they feed their dogs. Our breeder said it's a good one too. Has there been any recalls on this food.
I think some of us told you prior that Pro Plan is a food used by many GOOD breeders.
While that Dog Food Advisor site is useful in helping to educate yourself about some issues surrounding the dog food industry - it is only one person's opinion. And as has been pointed out, she/he is only looking at ingredients - not formulas. The formulas matter - a lot!
Personally, I think this is a food you could feed your dog with confidence.
Sharon, Blaise and Diesel.
Can't speak for sensitive skin and stomach formula, but my girls have been on Pro Plan chicken and rice since they started eating solid. They have had no problems ever.
Isn't it great to have a sister
Let's put it this way- if Caleb could have beef and rice I'd still be feeding it. I know beef isn't in the ingredients list, but animal fat is, which can be fat from any mammal.
Thanks, gives me something to go on. I was also told that Nature's Domain is good as it is grain free. made with salmon and sweet potato. for the puppy I am not to concerned, as long as he does not have any sensitivities he should do fine, but I'm hoping to switch our 4 year old over to the same food and she has a sensitive stomach at the best of times
Just be aware that Diamond makes the Nature's Domain food at Costco, and that Diamond has had a lot of recalls. :-)
Is the sensitive skin and stomach the Salmon and Rice formula? I feed that to Vermont my Collie. I definitely recommend it, he has a gorgeous coat and its been great for his sensitive stomach (he seems to not do well on any chicken formula).
I don´t believe those Internet ratings for dog food. They basically read the ingredients and they decide that if it says "chicken" as the first ingredient its is good, but if it reads "chicken by-products" or any kind of cereal then its not a good product.
To me, a good dog food has the following:
a) My dogs like it
b) Their coats are shinny and beautiful
c) No itchinness or rashes
d) No loose stools
e) No weight problems (low or overweight)
