    DefaultVery scary day...

Hi - So it looks like everything is going to be ok but my little 9 month old love was hit by a car this morning. She is very banged up and got lots of stitches but there were no internal injuries. We are still waiting on one x-ray to see if one of her paws will need a little cast. The accident was no ones fault. She took off while we were trying to tie her up and she ran across the street to see a friend. Needless to say, we are all very lucky.

So I guess I am wondering what toys or treats make your pups happiest? She is going to have a long recovery and I'm sure she must be terrified. I want to have lots of new toys and treats for her as soon as she comes home. I can't even wait to see her.

I'm glad she's ok. I asked my dog what you should give her to cheer her up. He shouted, "MEAT!"

What a scary day indeed! Glad that she's ok though.

As for toys, stuffed and frozen kongs would keep her busy. Maybe a puzzle toy as well? PetsMart sells them now too, which is handy.

I'm so glad she'll be okay. Mac said to give her a stuffed toy. Hugs to both of you.

Glad your baby is okay. My boy likes antlers - they can keep him occupied when he's restless.

That first sentence made my heart stop. Glad she will be OK. She will just be happy to be home with you.

I am glad your pup will be on the mend soon!

I second the frozen stuffed Kongs, antlers, and maybe Nylabones that have peanut butter spread on them. Anything that your pup can chew and be occupied with without a lot of physical activity. I am sure she will be hurting for awhile.

Maybe try some mental games/training with her, like the old "stone"/treat game, where you have several 'flower' pots turned upside down with a treat hidden under one. Train/play with her to find which pot the treat is under. (flower pots with the hole on the bottom work best as the scent of the treat will clue the dog as to which one to choose). Another version, which hand is the treat in?

Depending on her injuries, you can do a lot of training with her, and your attention to her while you are training will go a long way toward making her fell better and be happy!
