DefaultCan I have your thoughts please.UPDATE.

Erns went down hill tonight and falling over after we got home from the vet. The vet gave him a couple of shots and hoping he will improve in the next 24-48 hours. I bought him home as he is drinking and less stress at home.
Vets not sure what is causing the problem with his gut.

    Could be several things.
Something we will never know has upset him and he will be right in a few days. Vet is concerned if this is happening it may continue to.
Could be he has eaten something he shouldn't which I doubt.
The Previcox which we hope not, but taken him off it for now.
    Pancreatitis,
Or he is reacting to his food. This has been one of our biggest fears. This is the only food available for him so if he starts reacting to it we really don't know what to feed him.
There is also a small chance it could be something to do with the kebab stick he ate.

Not good thoughts or prayers. Thoughts on what do you think.

Erns has been vomitting since yesterday and last night I was up all night with him. Earliest vet appointment is 6.45 tonight. It is mid day now. I can't give him anything to settle his gut as he vomits it up as he keeps eating grass. He is eating, but constant grass eating he doesn't keep it down.
Late yesterday he was shaking his head and yelped a couple of times so I presumed he had ear ache. Tried to put drops in and he wouldn't let me.A few hours later he stopped, but licking his paws and scratching all night.

I am not sure if it is the new pills or having a crabby dog in the house. He started Previcox 10 days ago when he came off Pred. Do you think he would have reacted to it earlier or could it be this?

I have my sons and his partners Lhaso here. She is naughty and not been socialised so until day before yesterday has been growling at them. It has all settled now and he just started this.

He is panting and obviously stressed, so not sure I should leave him until tonight, but need to see my vet and that is the only appointment he has.

When mine start vomiting, I add about 3 desertspoons of glucose powder to their drinking water. It usually settles them pretty quickly. Not sure if Erns could have it given all his problems but if he can, it's worth a try.

I hope he comes right soon. Poor guy.

Thank you Garth. He is now wimpering and it is so hard not to be able to help him. Usually the meds for his gut sort him out. Never seen him eat grass like this and need to vomit.

Funny side we will all understand. Last night he vomitted a half hour after his dinner. I thought oh heck how long do meds take to go into their system so was racking through the 3 piles of puke to see if I could see any or see remains of any meds. lol. The one for his gut has a bright blue end so thought easy to see. Nope..lol.

I could be TOTALLY wrong here, but the first thing that came to mind was an allergic reaction to eating something. the eating grass and vomiting and the scratching and paw licking....does he have any visible swelling anywhere?

In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog.

Poor Erns, he's really had a tough go of it lately.
It's so hard to say what it could be. Have you stopped the Previcox just in case? I don't know much about it but assume from the name its an NSAID/COX 2 inhibitor - so could lead to vomiting or ulcers.
It could be the stress or something he got in to, but I hope 6:45 gets there quickly for you.

Oh and I would totally have raked through the puke too. How has his poop looked?

Let us know what the vet says.

You are right. It can lead to ulcers and with his gut we are really going out on a limb here, but at the moment his hips are a priority. It has been a long haul to get him to this stage and were so hoping it would work. He has Losec daily with the Previcox. I had stopped it.

Thank you Lokismom. Good thinking and I was thinking allergy. Vet isn't sure.

Thanks for the up date. Did your vet do a full CBC and check all counts? Numerous things would show in the testing. Did he test for Pancreatitis? IF he is reacting to his food I think (not sure) that would have an affect on this white or red blood cell count.

He is seeing how he goes in the next 24-48 hours. If he isn't better tomorrow or vomits again he will. Erns usually loves the vets, but wouldn't go in to day. He really didn't want the vet to touch him so he said don't stress him more than we need to. After the kebab think Erns is sick of the vets.

With his Crohns his gut will play up if he is reacting to the food. The Imuran he is on should take care of this.
