It was 11 years ago that we adopted this sweet girl. (She was about 9 months old.)
Here's her pic from the shelter website.
And here are a couple of fairly recent pics of Bella.
Now for the bad news:
Unfortunately, we just found out that she has a mast cell tumor. She is getting a couple chest x-rays on Tuesday and then probably an abdominal ultrasound the week after Thanksgiving to try to see if it has spread. Depending on those results, we'll go from there. If it has not obviously spread, then we'll have the tumor removed (and biopsied). If it has spread, well, she's almost 12, so I can't imagine we'll take any extreme measures.
She is still acting healthy and active (2 walks a day during the week, and on the weekends I give her a good 2 to 2.5 mile walk each day, with at least one of them off-leash.). Her blood and urine results came back OK, so if it has spread, it probably (hopefully) hasn't done a lot of damage yet.
Needless to say, SU and I are kinda freaking out. We'd appreciate any good thoughts or prayers.
