    DefaultDogs loved 'too much'...

As I am in the throws of socialising my dog with as many things as possible, I decided to take him down to my local dog friendly pub, which is probably a place he will see relatively often. As well as there being lots of friendly people there, the pub owns a little white shih-tzu type dog called Alfie. Now this dog is really sweet and him and Bilbo were playing about in the corner by us. The landlady came over to ask if Alfie was being a nuisance, and called him over "Alfie! Do you want a Guinness?!". Me and my boyfriend looked at each other like . I mean we did laugh between us, but mostly because we were thinking "Who on EARTH thinks that giving Guinness to a dog will do it good?!". The owner is very very loving towards the dog, I know she just thinks it's something the dog enjoys, but it is terrible to think the damage she is doing to her 18 month old dog

Saying that, my boyfriend's yellow lab (Ben) lived for 16/17 years... the other day, my boyfriend's grandma told me she used to give the dog kitkat (chocolate bars) whenever he came around to visit, which would be weekly!

Haha... I always thought dogs + alcohol = no. Especially a little shih-tzu!

I like to think Bilbo would be a fan of real ales...

I'm thinking of the little dog, "Mott", in the movie "Anatomy of a Murder". (Jimmie Stewart, Lee Remmick)
    Mott liked beer, too.

Belle was a beer dog. She would lick the "residue" off the top of a can if you did not watch her. She'd even knock over a bottle if she thought she could get away with it.

I learned that at hunt tests, when we would be waiting for awards and ribbons. She would be lying by my side as I would sit in a chair, enjoying a beer in the late afternoon sun. Put the beer down, and would reach for it a bit later, and "oops!" I must have not set it down carefully enough, or on an uneven spot on the grass. Think it took several beers before I realized who the culprit was! (no she did not get all of several beers)

You can go to the pub with your dog!!! I'm so jealous. You can't take your dog anywhere in this crumby town I live in.

Meow town sounds pretty prejudiced against dogs... there are about 3-4 I can take mine to! You should ask at your local ones if they'd consider letting dogs in!

That's pretty neat that they allow dogs. I don't think most places in the US allow dogs because majority of people would bring ill mannered dogs in and there could possibly be a lawsuit or something.

Funny about the KitKats.. For a big dog, I don't think that's enough chocolate to do any huge damage, but it makes you think!
