I normally feed Jack and Buddy. In the morning I get up, get dressed, and until I leave the bedroom, they stay in the bedroom with me. Sunday Wife said she would feed the dogs. She was in the bedroom with everybody when she told me and then announced come on Jack come on Buddy, lets go eat. They did not move. She called them three times but nobody moved. Buddy was watching me, Jack was sucking on a plush ball. It was not until Buddy heard kibble rattling in the bowl that he sprang off the bed and headed for the kitchen. Jack did not hear a sound I guess. He never moved.
After sucking down his breakfast, Buddy came running back into the bedroom like a little kid at Christmas who had snuck a look at what Santa had brought and ran up to Jack, huffed in his face and raced back to the kitchen for his peanut butter cracker. The moment Buddy huffed Jack scrambled to his feet and was an elder Lab on a mission. Wife had not put his bowl down figuring Buddy would help himself. When Jack did not see his bowl, being the retired Lab he is, he woofed for table service.
It is sad Jack does not hear well any more but I awed by what all Buddy does to help Jack.
Its the kibble breath communication system at work! Good dog, Buddy!
