We got a coupon in the mail the other day for a free tub of seal meal with dog food purchase. Since it was for the food we already buy and we happened to need some, I grabbed a free tub.
Has anyone had negative experiences with it? From what I've read online, everyone seems to love it.
Also, I currently feed the boys fish oil...do you think I can skip this when adding the seal meal?
I used to use this and I think it's Sea Meal (not seal, i.e. no chopped up seals in the ingredients)
It did seem to help my guy with his allergies/itching issues as a pup. I've since switched to Missing Link which he likes better, but never had a problem with the Sea Meal.
Not sure if you could skip the fish oil. My recollection is that it had a lot of flax seed, but not much fish? Not sure, but I thought the flax was less bio-available for dogs.
Sea Meal was one of those products where i noticed a difference when I stopped using it. I haven't ruled out going back to it, but Koivu was starting to avoid eating it on his food.
Here are the ingredients from the Solid Gold site: Dried Seaweed Meal, Flaxseed Meal, Dried Lemon, Dried Aspergillus Oryzae Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus Niger Fermentation Product, Pineapple, Lactose
Flaxseeds and citrus fruits both contain omega-3 fatty acids (the same thing as in fish oil), so you might not need to do both the Sea Meal and the fish oil.
