    DefaultTime for boosters...

So next Thursday I have an appointment for boosters for immunizations for Sophie. The vet sent a note that she is due. She is due rabies since the puppy shot was only for 1 yr. I guess she gets a 3 yr this time, correct? Plus I want her to get a Lipto... she had a 4th parvo at 4 months when she got her rabies shot, do you guys get a booster for this usually too? I don't want to over vaccinate her. What else do you guys get for your pooches? Sophie is 17 months. Do you guys worm as a preventitive, or only de worm if you see any?

Can't say much about the boosters you guys in the states get but mine get their annual boosters. The shots are for Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Hepatitis, Canine Parainfluenza Virus, Leptospirosis, Canine Coronavirus and Kennel cough.

They get wormed every 6 months.

Rabies vaccine i will only get if i were to travel to main land Europe which i don't think i ever will (with the dogs).

Other than the legally mandated rabies, I run titers on my kids - which actually costs as much as the shots - but if their immunity is still strong enough (and it continues to be so) I don't vaccinate any more...as for worms - we use a flee/tick/heartworm that takes care of that....

Boosters for Nola and Ruby too this week. They'll get the 3 year rabies and the combo vaccine, I don't do Lepto or Kennel Cough shots though.

Definitely do the booster at Sophies age. It is the following annual boosters that I do not give, I titer and only give boosters as necessary. Of course after the 2nd Rabies I do that every 3 years as required by law. I don't do Lepto or Kennel cough either.

I believe Sophie will be eligible for the 3 year rabies and 3 year distemper combo. We give heartworm protection year round and only de-worm for other parasites as needed.

Do the booster for the Distemper/Parvo then you are safe to do every 3 years like the Rabie.

I would only give the Bordetella if required by a boarding facility (for me it is never gonna happen, my dogs are never boarded), never give Corona or Lepto (it is not present in Arizona). Absolutely give Rabies and I would do one more DHPP booster then titer. We have dogs in our practice who have not had a DHPP vaccine in over 5 years and they are still protected.

I do puppy shots and one year boosters and then that's it. Will give rabies if I have to (to cross the border).

We do rabies and the combo vaccine (distemper/hepaititis/parvo) every 3 years and the bordetella every year....although I'm not really sure why we still opt to do this one since we never board either of them or bring them to the dog park.
