Is there a slick way to train a dog to only lick someone when allowed? My dog trainer told me that for the CGC licking is border line failure for the test (leaning towards failure). My kids allow and even encourage Layla to lick them. Layla does not lick me. I don't like it. Currently, I don't have the heart to tell the kids that Layla can't lick them. Sooooo, any ideas?
If she does not lick you then the CGC test should not be an issue if you are the one handling her for it. What she does with your kids should not matter.
Sharon, Blaise and Diesel.
She needs to not lick the person who does the meet and great/dog examination. She licked that person yesterday during practice.
Abbey is a very friendly dog, especially towards people who show her even the smallest bit of attention. If a person allowed her, she would lick their face for 10 minutes. She does know how to lick on command with "kisses" and I tell her "NO kisses" and she will stop licking.
