DefaultAre you going deaf, or just ignoring me??

We've noticed that Dozer has been showing more "age related" changes as of late...his sight isn't quite what it used to be and I swear his hearing is getting worse. When he's napping and I need to wake him to go potty, I have to repeat his name quite a few times before he wakes up (and usually with a "Huh?? What??" expression on his face ) DH thinks it might be more about the pitch of my voice than the volume. Have any of you other women had similar experiences where your dog has difficulty hearing your voice but not any trouble hearing a man's voice?

DH also suggested that may just be so comfortable during his naps that he's ignoring me.

Would you like being woken and told to poo on command ?

He's a senior and deserves a few moments to collect his thoughts :-)

Sometimes I think the same thing with our 10yr old Lab but then other times I think she just tunes me out

Sophie gives us the "deaf-ear" treatment and she's only 16 months! We call it "labby selective hearing"...

I've noticed with Jo that his hearing is starting to go, he's 12. I will be 2 feet away from him on the deck and asking him if he wants to come in, and until I touch him, he doesn't hear me.....BUT wrinkle a wrapper in another room, and he's on it like a fat kid on cake! Sometimes I think it's the tone, sometimes I think he's ignoring me....other times....he's just Jo, LOL.

Mom to Indy 6/12/98 to 11/16/11 (always in my heart), and Jobe 8-14-2000 to 6/24/2013 (Working TDI) English Labs, and Annie our Golden Retriever (TDI), and Kodiak (who will one day hopefully be a TDI dog if he doesn't kill me first).
