UnhappyMy naughty, naughty Rhys and his very upset tummy

For the past 8 years I have kept my dog food in a 'pots and pans' drawer. Well, last Tuesday, Mr Rhys figured out the drawer.

I have no idea how it took that long, but for the last 6 days I have made every attempt to keep said drawer secure. Baby proof bands, belts, hooks and the like are no match for a hungry Rhys.

It seems every 4-6 months he goes on a hunger tangent. Where he eats bizarre things and over gorges himself. Last time it was wash cloths, sponges and pillows.

This time, its dog food. I've moved it out of the drawer, but he is still incessantly trying to break into it.

I was home with him most of the weekend and now he's a fair bit bloated (we're going in at 445 to the vet), I know he hasn't eaten anything strange at all. So my prediction of his random incessant eating holds true, he only does it when he feels badly, uses the full belly to mask the discomfort of the fluid.

Fluid removal from his abdomen is not un-common. Last time he ate a bunch of strange crap they removed almost a Litre of fluid from his belly. Before that, it had been almost 2 years since he'd needed anything drained.

He had a very rough night last night. Hoping it gets better after they pull out all the fluid.

Long story short, last night was the first night in a long, long time that I thought I might lose him.

I have an urge to feed him 15lbs of kibble to make his belly feel better.

    Poor guy!!

What causes the fluid in his abdomen? I've never heard of that before.

Rhys has cancer. It's been 5 years since his initial diagnosis of smooth muscle sarcoma. Since it's progression he's been re-categorized as a reactive lymphoma...
