Fed the ponies tonight kinda later than normal. I get to the back barn and go in the tack room to get their feed, and Finn starts with these huge WOOF WOOF WOOFs. Like a stranger was in the field or something. So I come out to see what he's barking at, all I see are ponies and llamas.
Then I looked down and there is a SNAKE! It was at least 4 feet long! I'm not sure what kind, I didn't see or hear rattles but it had the triangular head of a viper. I hollered NO at the boys, and they stopped!! Even the JRT stopped! We stood and waited till it slithered away, and both boys waited patiently with me. I was so proud! I'm not afraid of snakes but I sure didn't want me or the boys to get bit!! And I had nothing to dispatch it with, not that I would have even tried unless it was a pistol. I'm not getting THAT close!
Once it vanished into the weeds we continued onto feeding and I made sure they stayed with me. We gave the weeds a wide berth when we went back to the house.
Whew! Good doggies got lots of hugs and snackies!!

Good boys!! I would have screamed like a little girl and jumped on the nearest bench, calling the dogs up to me.
~It doesn't matter how smart the dog is,it matters how smart the owner is.

How awesome that the pups all listened! Glad you are all safe, lets hope Mr. Slithery and Scaly will decide there is too much traffic in that area and he will move on to a less-populated area.

Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for much, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
