I usually keep my dog where he can see our bedroom at night while we sleep and he usually does ok but for the last couple nights he's been barking just as my wife and i are tryin to fall asleep. have any of you experienced this? what did you do? just to give a bit more info, we got him a week ago from a friend and he's about 4 months old
Try crating him next to your bed ! Labs are people dogs and it may appease him.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go - but learning to start over.
What does this mean, exactly? Where is he, and is he crated?I usually keep my dog where he can see our bedroom at night

Either in the bedroom or further away. Sounds like a bit of a tease... you can see us, but you can't be with us. Labs are people dogs.
I tried putting Diesel in my bedroom while he was crated, but he is a very restless sleeper so I would be awakened throughout the night with him flopping around & his crate clammering. I put him in the other room but away from my bedroom door... out of sight, out of mind mentality. I had to close my bedroom door as well as he whimpered everytime he heard me move. It worked for us until he was trusted out of his crate & now sleeps much sounder on the bed with me.
