I have never done any classes other than basic obedience. Smokey and I are starting obedience classes in a couple of weeks, a girlfriend of mine highly recommended this trainer and is going to do the rally classes as well, it sounds really fun to me. Am I naive to think we could do this? He is just 16 weeks old and is going to be doing two months of basic obedience now. These Rally classes arent for a few months after we would finish obedience classes. Just something I'm thinking about.
Coming from a Rally Addict- DO IT! Caleb was 10 months old when we started Rally.
Thanks, it sounds fun! I think I will try it. Smokey has been so receptive to training and so easy to handle "even when he's naughty" I think he would do well.
SO much fun!!! Just remember, you can talk to your dog while doing the course.

I love Rally! I am a serious completive obebedience person and since Rally was initiated have started my dog's with Rally. It is a really fun and relaxing way to be with, and bond with your dog.

Love rally! I'm using it kind of as a stepping stone to obedience and we start our competitive obedience class in a couple of weeks.
We have our RA in AKC and URO1 in UKC and will probably finish up a title or two this fall/winter. It's really fun as you can talk to your dog, pat your leg, etc in the novice rings with no penalties.
Thank You all! it sounded very fun to me, and who knows, maybe we will get competetive? Smokey learns easily, surely he's got it in him to do it!
ETA- the AKC's definition of pleading is "repeated commands and/or signals to elic it the proper behavior from the dog while the dog remains unresponsive to handler's commands and/or signals."
