Defaulthow to stop puppy humping and what to tell the kids?

So my Max being all of 6 months old is starting to get overly risky with his two blankets.

Any suggestions on how to get him to stop? He is already neutered.

Also any tips on how to explain to my 9 and 5 year old sons? Not quite ready for "the talk" !

    Thanks !

neutering doesn't stop humping. some of the worst offenders I have had were neutered males. If it's his blanket I would be partial to letting him have his fun. it isn't about sex, more dominance. though at 6 months it may actually just be exitement more than actual dominance.

how to stop it...there is another post with lots of tips. I would physically remove the dog and say "no hump" and redirect. you can use another word but make it a specific word for this action.

Yup, just two blankets. I would let him have a blast but the kids are starting to wonder.

Take the blankets away from him. Tell the kids he's being silly.

I used to have 2 female black Pugs. They were both spayed. The younger one spent half her life humping the older one. It looked so ridiculous!

You could try explaining to them that this is how puppies are made. "The talk" could go something like, see kids once upon a time, there was this boy dog that REALLY LOVED his blanket ............ I'll let you fill in the rest.

    Sorry I'm no help.

Tell him NO, redirect his attention. Tell the kids he's playing.

I have sons the same age and they know the basics of how babies are made but I'd probably opt for the "he's being silly" explanation too.
